Copy vast quantities of content from an archived (past) course:
- You can copy materials from archived courses by going to the courses tab and selecting “all courses”.
- From there, you can go to an existing course and access its materials that you would like to transfer to a new course by selecting “archived courses” and selecting the course you would like to copy from.
- Next, select the “resources” button from the top banner across your screen. This is where all the folders, pages, and materials you have created are located.
- Click on the folder or collection of resources you would like to copy. One option for doing this quickly is to click the checkboxes, select all the resources, and then click “action”, “copy to”.
- Next, you will be asked where you would like to copy the materials. Select the course from the drop down menu. Currently, favorites are where your active courses are. Any inactive, or archived, courses will be denoted by (archived).
- You can also copy items by “opening” an item, select the three dot button in the right hand corner of your screen. Then, select the “copy” button. You will then be able to select which course the materials will be copied into.Select the course from the drop down menu. Currently, favorites are where your active courses are. Any inactive, or archived, courses will be denoted by (archived).
- You will get a message that lets you know that the materials have been copied successfully.
- To view where you copied the resources, click the course you copied the resources into from the “courses” tab drop down menu.
- Go to “resources” and see your copied resources. The next step is optional depending on what you want to do. Your copied materials in your new course are now “linked” or “married” to your original copies. If you make any edits in the copied materials, it will change the original copies. Vice versa as well-if you make any edits on the original copies, it will now change your copied versions. If you do not want this to happen, click on one of the individual resources in your folder. You can not change this from the folder, but have to click on each individual resource to do this process.
To “unmarry”, or “unlink” the copied resources from the original (meaning if you make updates, it won’t change the other), click “create own copy”. This will now make it so that if you edit the new copied resource, it will not change your original.
- You will be prompted confirm the copy, and then to refresh the page and then you will see that it is no longer linked. You are free to edit the new copy without impacting the original.
