Requesting a Security Key

Eligibility

If you travel to multiple BCSC locations throughout the day and/ or have access to confidential Administrator information and lock your PC when unattended then you are eligible for a Yubikey.

 

 

  1. Open Incident IQ 
  2. Click “New ticket”
  3. Click “Other Technology Requests”
  4. Click “New IT Requests”
  5. Click “MFA Security Key Request”
 
 

Text Based Instruction

  1. Insert the Yubikey in a USB-C Port with the gold circle pointed up (may need to temporarily unplug power cable from laptop)
  2. Open Google Chrome
  3. Click on Profile in upper right corner
  4. Select ‘Manage your Google Account’
  5. On the left side click “Security”
  6. Look for and click “Passkeys and security keys” which should either be in the ‘How you sign in to Google’ or below it in the ‘You can add more sign in options’ section.
  7. Click “Create a passkey” (may have to scroll down slightly)
  8. Click “Use another device”
  9. Click “Ok”
  10. Click “Ok”
  11. Type in a PIN (can use letters or numbers)
  12. Click “Ok”
  13. Physically touch the gold circle on your Yubikey
  14. Unplug the Yubikey
