What Is Qustodio?

Qustodio is a tool that lets parents and guardians:

  • View their student's activity on the school-issued Chromebook (websites visited, apps used, etc.)
  • Control the BCSC Chromebook during off-school hours — including setting web filters, time limits, and schedules.
  • Qustodio cannot make the BCSC content filter less restrictive, only more restrictive.

Qustodio Support

BCSC Technology does not have any visibility in Qustodio. If you have any questions about functionality within the system or need help troubleshooting issues, please contact Qustodio support by sending an email to myschool@qustodio.com.

What Can Parents See and Do?

Parents access Qustodio through their own account using the website: qustodio.com/my-school. Once logged in, there are three main areas:

What It Does

Dashboard

Timeline

Rules

Lets parents set controls on the Chromebook during off-school hours

Rules (Off-School Hours Only)

These controls only apply outside of school hours on the school-issued Chromebook:

  • Web filtering — Allow or block specific websites and content categories
  • Daily time limits — Set a daily screen time allowance
  • Routines — Schedule custom rules for specific times of day (e.g., no screen time after 9pm)

Free Personal Device License

Parents also receive one free personal device license through their Qustodio account. This license can be redeemed through their account and used on a personal device (phone, tablet, etc.). It unlocks some additional features which are normally unavailable on school devices.

Important Note

BCSC has no visibility into personal device activity. That is entirely private between the parent and their child. BCSC cannot help troubleshoot issues with personal device and they have to contact Qustodio directly.

Qustodio Troubleshooting

“I got an invitation but I'm having trouble setting up my account or using features.”

Please use Qustodio Help page, help.qustodio.com, or send an email to Qustodio support at myschool@qustodio.com.

If the invitation went through, there is nothing else BCSC can do as we do not have any administrative permissions or any visibility within the system.

"I never received an invitation and can't sign up."

Please contact your student’s school main office to verify that the correct email address is on file.

“Internet cuts out at a specific time and my student can't access anything.”

There are some default routines that get set up when you begin using Qustodio. Please reference this article for more information on how to address it.
